Color Poem

Grandpa Jim
By P.J.

I love you, Grandpa, the reddest.
I love you the color of your cheeks and your heart.
I love you the color of your red pickup truck, and the color of hot sauce you put on tacos.
The color of the stripes on the american flag.
The color of apples hanging on trees.
I love you, Grandpa, the reddest of all!

Family Pictures
In writing class we will be doing a writing project where we need some family pictures.  (Pets included)  The kids will be taking pictures of these pictures and making an iMovie with them and publishing it on YouTube.  They will publish it as an unlisted video, so only the people with the code can watch it.  I will need these pictures by Friday November 2nd, so we can get started the following week.
Again, these movies will be unlisted, but if you do not want your child, or your pictures on this video, let me know.
Thanks for everything, Troy

Big Island Randezvous

On October 4th, all fourth grade students will participate in a Native American Education Day at the Big Island Rendezvous in Albert Lea, Minnesota.  Students will get a first hand experience concerning Native American customs and crafts.
A note was sent home on Monday explaining this field trip in a little more detail.  On this note, we attached a permission slip that needs to be returned by Tuesday, September 25th.  If you did not get a note, let me know and I will send another one home with your child.

Hard Working Class!

Wow, what a class we had today!  The classes have been working extremely hard on sentence and paragraph structure this week and today was an outstanding day.  We started off by working on fragmented sentences and moved into writing paragraphs.  They were doing such an outstanding job I asked Ali Maulsby to video tape the class in action!  Thanks for the wonderful kids!

Twitter in the Classroom

We started our daily tweet deck today with the kids writing about something they liked from class last week.  We will do this each day with a different student creating a different question/topic to post on everyday.  They have to write their "post" in 140 characters or less and use proper English in it.

Back to School!

I know we just finished this school year, but I wanted to get a post out there for everyone letting them know what to look for this summer.  I will be getting  a list together real quick and start sending out emails to everyone about things that you should be seeing from me as the summer rolls on.  Our class utilizes technology almost all day everyday and I want to make sure everyone knows what we will be doing before the school year starts.  (Which officially starts on August 21st)  YIPPEY!!
Have a great summer, and I look forward to talking with you as we get closer to the start of the year!
